Alberta Open Farm Days is happening from August 19-20. During this province-wide event, more than 100 farms, ranches, and businesses open their doors to Albertans; that includes breweries, distilleries, and wineries. You’ll have the opportunity to purchase locally grown and locally produced food, beer, wine, and spirits, and learn more about how the products get from farm to glass.

SPIRIT HILLS WINERY
August 19-20
10 am until 5 pm

Spirit Hills Winery in Millarville produces honey wine with local fruits and flowers. The winery will have tours and tastings (tasting $10 per person) every half hour. Learn about bees, honey harvesting, and honey wine-making. There will also be vegetable garden tours, a children’s play area, and every hour there will be a hay wagon ride to the newly planted vineyard and orchard.

EAU CLAIRE DISTILLERY

Alberta’s first independent craft distillery, located in Turner Valley, is offering free entry, tours, and tastings with products available for purchase. Learn how their spirits, including gin, vodka, and whisky, are made using farm-to-glass, traditional methods.

RED CUP DISTILLERY
August 19-20
10 am – 7 pm

Red Cup Distillery in Vegreville produces Canada’s only all-natural moonshine (sprouted wheat and water). Drop by during opening hours for a tour and taster.

RIG HAND CRAFT DISTILLERY  
August 19-20
12 pm – 5 pm

Rig Hand Craft Distillery in Nisku makes vodka, rum, whisky, gin, moonshine, and coffee cream liquor. Drop by during opening hours for a free tour and taste; last tour at 4 pm.

COMBINE TO CRAFT AT HAMILL FARMS/RED SHED MALTING  
August 19
9 am – 4 pm

Join Red Shed Malting on family-run Hamill Farms to meet your local farmer, maltster, and brewer while enjoying a true field to glass experience. Combine to Craft, an Alberta Barley initiative, has brought together a panel of speakers to guide you through the barley value chain. Tours take place at 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm. Beer will be available for purchase from Siding 14 Brewing Company, and a limited amount of appetizers will be provided by Bo’s Bar & Grill Catering team from 11 am to 2 pm. Free admission and kid-friendly.

TROUBLED MONK BREWERY
August 19
11 am – 8 pm

Troubled Monk Brewery in Red Deer is offering free tours at 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm, with a small sample of four full-time beers.

BLINDMAN BREWING

12 pm – 10 pm

Blindman Brewing in Lacombe is offering tours on demand, local snacks for sale, and more.
