Definitely worth mentioning again – we just love the Tuna Stack at Cactus Club! The Albacore tuna and avocado are meltingly soft, and perfect partners for the umami flavour of sesame as well as a great foil to the citrus tamari vinaigrette. The crispy wonton chips to pile it on to are unusual and a lovely light bite for the tuna. Feel good bonus – it’s Ocean Wise seafood to boot.

If you’re not in the northeast Calgary, find an excuse to go when you’re hungry and stop by Pizza Brew at the Minhas Brewery. There’s a big menu of hearty, filling food that is made fresh in house and perfect for sharing with friends. Irish Nachos are chunky latticed potato fries on top of hand-made fresh corn chips, then smothered with cheese, jalapenos, tomatoes and green onions, with little bowls of salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side. We also chose the Lazy Mutt pizza, which comes with Genoa salami, black olives, red onions and feta cheese, and is very generous – and you can even have whole wheat and gluten free versions too!

I’d heard about the crab salad at Tango Bistro and couldn’t wait to try it, so I was really glad that it was part of a recent tasting menu. The photo is just a small portion – and it was still a lot of food, but no one complained – it’s really delicious! The blue crab salad sits on avocado with a garden full of butter lettuce on the side, and all topped with a very tasty Dijon herb vinaigrette – it gets the thumbs up from everyone. Great job!
