There’s finally an end to the dearth of good Jewish food in Edmonton! Tuk Tuk Thai is growing. Thai Sa-on’s Sam Chanhao has opened second and third locations in Signal Hill Centre and Kensington, and new outlets are planned for Deerfoot City, 5th Avenue Place, Creekside, and Airdrie! Our favourite dishes from Thai Sa-on are all here, with the prettiest unfolding lotus-shaped takeout boxes, and plenty of table seating too. Both locations open seven days a week from 11 am.

Serial restaurateur, Witold Twardowski, has opened Emilios in the ex Wine-Ohs spot on Calgary’s 1st Street SW, neighbour to his Plowshare Artisan Diner. Named for local bootlegger Emilio Picariello, this 40-seat restaurant is open all day every day, with a simple Italian menu of flatbreads, pastas, and paninis from Chef Mike Scarcelli (ex-Teatro Group). Downstairs houses BLK Rabbit, a nightlife lounge with a resident DJ, open Thursday-Saturday. Like Emilios, BLK Rabbit’s food is homemade and uncomplicated, with great value tapas.

Dandy Brew Company has opened their flagship location, now with a full service restaurant, in a renovated service station in Ramsay. Buffo has now opened inside the Saks Fifth Avenue store in the CF Chinook Centre (although you can access it directly from the parking lot too). Now Oliver & Bonacini’s 4th restaurant after The Guild, Sub Rosa, and Hudson, Buffo is a stylish and casual Italian eatery with excellent food! But then the kitchen is headed up by Chef Michel Nop (latterly of Foreign Concept), so you know it’s going to be good. Expect a choice of pizzas, homemade pastas, arancini, calamari, salads and great cocktails too!
