Wearable Wine
PINOT PLEASE is a sweater inspired by Meiomi Pinot Noir, designed by Vancouver’s Brunette the Label for its fall collection launched for Pinot Noir Day on August 18. We may have missed the day, but the collaboration sweater will be available for the full fall season. It will be available for shipping worldwide via brunettethelabel.com and we have just had confirmation that it will be stocked nationally in Nordstrom stores too.

Diana Nacita joins King Eddy as Chef

The historic King Edward Hotel spanned more than 100 years in Calgary and was a destination for travellers, settlers, musicians, music fans, and citizens from all walks of life. Nacita was previously Executive Chef at Vin Room, and now at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, her mandate was to infuse international flavours into a region steeped in music and come up with a menu of comfort-food classics from the American South.

Congratulations to Chef Kaede Hirooka on his new position with Marriott Hotels! One of Calgary’s star chefs, Hirooka has been overseeing the kitchen as Executive Chef at Vintage Chophouse for the last two and half years before taking over at Elwood and The Rabbit. Now at One18 Empire, we expect to see him rise to be Executive Chef at Marriott very soon!

Kananaskis Country Golf Course has reopened this year after the devastating floods of 2013, and has welcomed Chef Drew Double as executive chef at the Summit Kitchen, Lounge, and Patio. Latterly the Executive Chef of The Silver Springs Golf and Country Club, Chef Double has overseen the launch of a new open concept patio set beneath the heights of Mount Kidd, for golfers, hikers, and diners. A larger covered patio features a 22 ft. fireplace to keep you warm and toasty on chilly summer evenings.
