Rodney’s Oyster House
After all the indulgences over the holidays, I’m thrilled to find so many delicious but lighter dishes on menus for lunch this week. I couldn’t decide what to choose at Rodney’s until I saw the dishes brought to the table next to me – and then I just had to have that! George’s Bank Q10, plump and perfectly cooked scallops are flown in from Massachusetts, and sit atop a bed of broccolini and spinach, with sautéed mushrooms. Loved it.
I was persuaded to try the Chilled & Marinated Mussels too, and I’m so glad I did! Marinated in garlic, shallots, dill, and olive oil, this is seafood crack – you can’t stop popping them. Glad I shared both dishes though – more generous servings!
Alforno Bakery & Café
I’m really enjoying the new menu at Alforno; there are really tasty and fresh lunchtime dishes like the Salmon Salad that is perfect for when you’re hungry but don’t want to feel like a baby whale all afternoon. The salmon is very juicy and moist, as it’s poached in olive oil then flaked on top of arugula, thinly sliced fennel, artichoke, asparagus, and preserved lemon, with dill and pea shoots, and a citrus vinaigrette. It’s a generous serving and hits the spot for me!
