Cactus Club Cafe Stephen Avenue

A recent visit to Cactus Club Café Stephen Avenue for lunch was a revelation to me – showing my naivety now, I had no idea the food was this good! And all Ocean Wise, too. I could have eaten buckets of the Tuna Stack; the meltingly soft Albacore tuna and avocado were a perfect combination with the citrus tamari vinaigrette, with tons of wonton chips to pile it on to.

The Beef Carpaccio was also a delight – peppercorn-crusted Canadian tenderloin with Dijon aioli, capers, and Grana Padano. And they’re very generous portions, so bring a crowd and share the love with a few glasses of wine. You can order mains too and enjoy my favourite, Soy-Dijon Salmon, which comes with whole grain barley, snap peas, and shiitake mushrooms in the most delicious sauce. If you’re more of a carnivore, the Peppercorn New York Striploin is a full 12 ounces and will bring a smile to any steak purist’s lips!
