My visits to Cassis Bistro have always been at lunchtime, so I was quite excited to try their evening menu. And wow, am I ever glad I did! The sharing plate of salty black olive tapenade with croutons and a glass of chilled rosé (on a hot evening, I might add), was just about as pleasant as it gets. Then a unique dish for Calgary – calamari stuffed with prosciutto, accompanied by a red wine vinaigrette frisée salad – had really amazing flavours and textures, and was plenty for two to share! I chose the plat du jour for my main, which was rabbit in mustard sauce; it was such a generous portion, but was so delicious I couldn’t help finishing every last morsel. Oh, one little tip: be sure to ask for extra of what I think might possibly be the best baguette in the city to mop up the juices!
