Whether sharing with a friend or tackling on your own, the garlic meatballs and its tomato dipping sauce are a perfect pairing of protein and acidity and the poutine with truffle oil, squeaky cheese curd and duck gravy take the definition of decadence to a new level. This is soul food friends.
If you were at the Whisky Fest to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis in either Edmonton or Calgary in the last couple weeks, you may have been among the first people ever to try the only single malt whisky ever produced in the Yukon.
Made by Yukon Spirits, a company affiliated with the widely known Yukon Brewing Company, out of Whitehorse.
If you missed out, fear not, the 6 year old whisky will be going into wider release in March.
Alberta is one of the companies primary markets, after the Yukon.
Available at select liquor stores.

The Lake House
There’s more than just a beautiful view at The Lake House. Lunch here has so many delicious choices for seafood and meat lovers alike.
Just had to share a Lake House Fish Plank ($18) to start – I was polite but I could have eaten it all myself. There’s an assortment of house-cured and smoked seafood and fish, which comes with marinated olives, pickled red onions and dill bread and citrus crackers. And then being somewhat of a quiche junkie, the Lakehouse Quiche with house salad ($16) was a no-brainer. What a great choice! It was perfectly done, tasted great and didn’t feel like I’d be several pounds heavier for having enjoyed it, and I even enjoyed stealing some of the Lakehouse Frites from my companion’s CRM Game Burger too!
