Suzette Brittany Bistro
A lovely place for a lunch meeting, Suzette has been busy since the day it opened – and it’s easy to see why. The atmosphere is bright and charming, very French, with great service. We had to try the signature chewy buckwheat Galettes; there are seven to choose from, and I very much enjoyed my ‘Complète’ with French ham, Gruyere and egg, and a small salad on the side. We also tried the creamy Moules Frites that comes with tons of frites – enough for two to share and then some! A great addition to Calgary’s dining scene.
Ki Modern Japanese + Bar
The spring menu at Ki has some really tasty dishes, and here I’ve found my new soup love – Miso Chowder. It’s really creamy with chunks of assorted seafood, wakame, red pepper strips and to top it all – a delicate drizzle of truffle oil. As well as the always excellent sushi, makimonos (rolls), nigiri and sashimi, we tried the grilled eggplant in a ginger miso sauce – definitely to be recommened!
Eldorado BBQ Lounge
I’m really enjoying the brand new Eldorado BBQ Lounge. I love the shrimp boil with wild prawns, Andouille, baby red potatoes and corn. At first, when it arrived, I thought it looked a bit dry – and then they poured a delicious broth over it with toasted bread to mop it all up! If you’re more of a meat-lover, the brisket tacos are definitely for you – they were super-delicious too, and somehow we still made room for the Mixture 5-1 salad that comes with crunch tortilla strips and crispy chickpeas. They all get the thumbs-up from me!
