Blood Orange Sorbetto – Amato Gelato

As a lactose-intolerant, I have a hard time finding a quick and easy dessert that satisfies my sweet tooth. Luckily, the sorbetto at Amato Gelato does the trick. With a wide range of flavours, impeccable service and convenient locations, it’s easy to pick up when I have a craving. A single scoop of the blood orange sorbetto was the perfect amount of sweet and sour.

Macarons at Yann Haute Patisserie

The macaron didn’t catch on quite like the cupcake, but it still enjoyed its time in the sun and frankly, I still find myself craving a good macaron every now and then. If you ever need your macaron fix, Yann’s is the place to go. His flavours are incredibly original and there are so many to choose from. The quintessential Canadian choice is the Nanaimo bar macaron. It’s got all of the requisite flavours; chocolate, coconut, and custard, without the overwhelming sweetness of a traditional Nanaimo bar. If that doesn’t suit your fancy, the carrot cake macaron is just as good, if not better.

Graham Beck 2009 Blanc de Blancs, South Africa

A wine that truly hits well above its weight class. Quite dark in the glass with golden/yellow hues while the palate and nose have plenty of citrus and baked apple. The long, creamy, and perfectly balanced finish are a definite treat.

About $26-27, CSPC 718032, available at select liquor stores.
