Dinner for three at Bow Valley Ranche involved far too many dishes to describe here, and my goodness is Chef Jenny Kang’s cooking well above par! Everything was notable, but to give you a hint – elk tartare (elk tartare!) comes with horseradish cream, cured yolk, and… say it twice as they’re so good – sunchoke chips! Who could possible resist Pan-Seared Arctic Char and parsnip purée? Then add on braised endives, zucchini, saffron-infused potato and beurre rouge, and the dish is a winner!

It’s been a while since I was at Cravings, so I jumped at the opportunity to have a lunch meeting there recently. Of course there’s too many delicious-sounding dishes that you’ll want to try, and they’re very generous portions, so go with a friend and share! We shared the herb and lemon bruschetta with grilled garlic baguette and asiago cheese to start – what a great presentation, it’s the perfect sharing dish and flavourful, too. I followed it with a Moroccan seafood tajine – a huge tagine full of succulent cod, mussels, shrimp, squid in tomato and olive sauce, with cous cous AND naan bread on the side. It was very, very tasty and I managed to polish off all the tajine, but even I couldn’t finish all the cous cous and the naan bread! But it wasn’t for want of trying!
