Fig and Olive Tapenade

Yield: Makes 2 cups

Figs and olives are a naturally sweet and salty combo. Use this tapenade as a base for many grilled cheese combinations that will satisfy your craving for something salty, sweet.


1 cup Kalamata olives, pitted

1 cup dried figs, stemmed and chopped

1 clove garlic, pressed

1 Tbs capers

1 tsp (5 mL) balsamic vinegar

1 tsp (5 mL) balsamic vinegar

Pinch of pepper


  1. Place all ingredients except oil in a food processor, and coarsely chop. Slowly add oil to desired consistency.
