From old fashioneds to fried chicken, there’s lots to do this weekend

1) Cluck n Cleaver

Oh yes, southern fried chicken has come to town! Recently opened by sisters Nicole and Francine Gomes, the small Cluck n’ Cleaver building off 14 Street SW specializes in only the best fried and rotisserie chicken (their potato and egg salad, and fresh, homemade cookies aren’t bad, either). Online ordering now available!

Located at: 1511 14 Street SW, Calgary
Hours: Sun-Thurs 11 a.m.- 9 p.m.   Fri-Sat 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

2) Cococo Chocolatiers

Let’s be honest — it’s the long weekend. If you have an opportunity to get out of town, you’re going to take it. Stuck at YYC International? There is always chocolate (also works for a last-minute gift) to pass the time. Cococo Chocolatiers is planning on opening a second store in the international terminal sometime this year!

Located at: 2000 Airport Road NE
Departures Level, Gate A, Calgary
Hours: Mon-Sun 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

3) Café Mosaics

The recently revamped Café Mosaics may be even a bigger hit than before. Twice as large, the bright, modern space hosts some of the best vegan and vegetarian food in town. Filled with flowers and fresh fruits and veggies, this fresh space has a market-place feel to it.

Located at: 10844 Whyte Avenue, Edmonton
Hours: Mon-Fri 7 a.m.-10 p.m.   Sat 10 a.m.-10 p.m.   Sun 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

4) Kaengthai Bistro

This cozy Thai restaurant is a perfect spot for an authentic Thai meal with tons to choose from (classic Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup are a few favourites). A good bargain for what you get, the home cooked meals at Kaengthai Bistro are definitely sometime to come back for.

Located at: 10152 Whyte Avenue NW, Edmonton
Hours: Sun-Thu 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m.   Fri-Sat 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m.

5) Where The Buffalo Roam Saloon

Right off Main Street, stop off at Where The Buffalo Roam where they serve everything from shrimp cocktails to deep-fried cheese. But that’s not even the best part — this lounge is known for having the best old fashioned in town. Swing down to the saloon and have yourself some much needed long weekend cocktails!

Located at: 626 8 Street, Canmore
Hours: Sun-Thu 12 p.m.-11 p.m.   Fri-Sat 12 p.m.-1 a.m.
