18 more Calgary establishments have joined Mealshare’s restaurant partners supporting theirs buy-one, give-one model. For each designated item sold, Mealshare’s partner restaurants contribute financially to the organization, which then forwards the funds to its network of partner charities to purchase groceries and ingredients needed for a healthy meal. The 18 new restaurants are:
Bake my Day, Bridgette Bar, Broken Plate, Burwood Distillery, Cannibale, Dandy Brewing Company, Intenso, Greta Bar, Matador Steakhouse, Melrose Cafe & Bar, Model Milk, Modern Steak (Stephen Ave), One Night Stans, Pin Bar, Pigeonhole, Ruth’s Chris, Shelter, Societe Coffeehouse.
For the sixth year in a row, Famoso is selling its authentic hand-milled Campania Tomato Sauce at all BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan restaurants, in partnership with Mealshare. Until December 31, for every jar purchased, meals will be provided to Canadian youth in need in the community where the sauce was sold.
Over 850,000 people turn to food banks for help every month, and more than a third are children and youth. For more than 20 years, Good Earth Coffeehouse’s Gingerbread Family Program donates $1 for each gingerbread cookie package sold, until December 31, 2018. Share a photo of your Gingerbread Family cookies with hashtag #FamiliesFeedFamilies on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Instagram and Good Earth will donate $1 for every social media post up to $2,500.
Jugo Juice is celebrating its 20th anniversary and has launched its limited edition holiday menu items – the Merry Mandarin smoothie and Dreamy Orange Protein smoothie, available until January 8.
Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers’ Market is one of Calgary’s only year-round Alberta Approved Community run Farmers’ Markets, and they’re hosting their Holiday Edition Market – ‘A Very Local Holiday’ on Wednesday December 12, 3-7pm. There will be live music, cookie decorating, and Storytime for kids, and a visit from Santa’s Family! Free, open to everyone and is accessible to all abilities.
Miracle – the beloved New York City Christmas-themed pop-up bar – comes to Calgary for the first time ever as “Miracle on 1st Street YYC” at Proof Cocktail Bar. From December 1st – 21st Proof will transform into a holiday wonderland serving seasonally themed drinks.
The Italian centre Shop has added some new platters to their Party Platter menu: Party Snacker –Smoked turkey sausage, German salami, cheddar, provolone, Boursin, pickles and olives, $29.98; Spuntino – “Just a bite”, has double cream brie, bresaola, spicy Calabrese salami and Reggiano, with olives, grapes, nuts and honey $55.98; and the Traditional Italian Antipasto is as Italian as it gets with Genoa salami, capicollo, mortadella, Asiago and provolone cheese, olives, giardinera, and bocconcini $72.98.
