Chateau d’Ourbenac Cahors AOC 2008
A deeply dark colour, this 100% malbec wine from it’s home in Cahors, southwest France, will surprise many a new world wine drinker, who might expect something akin to a malbec from Argentina. The nose is alluring, with ripe berries and pronounced aromas of cocoa and cinnamon. On the plate it is fresh and elegant, with a good acidity and flavours of blueberries, liquorice and spice; you would never guess that it has an ABV of 14% or that it’s on the shelf for around only $17! Enjoy it with beef or bison tartare, carpaccio you’re your favourite steak, cooked rare. CSPC 747789
