Pratello Mille 1 Rebo

Have you ever had the Rebo grape before? It’s a hybrid grape of Merlot crossed with the indigenous Teroldego grape, awarded its own DOC in 1997, and created in Trentino by researcher, Rebo Rigotti, in 1948. Who knew? And it’s a great wine for dining in Calgary!

The vineyards overlook Lake Garda in Lombardy, and have been certified organic for nearly 12 years. On the nose it will be familiar, with the dark plum and mulberry aromas of merlot, but on the palate it has the texture and weight of Teraldigo, with a delicious mouth-watering acidity; it’s a little herbaceous and there are warming spices too. This wine would be a great partner to gnocchi with smoked pork hock and spinach, or try a slow braised bison short rib with Gorgonzola potato puree and green beans, or a roasted Cornish hen stuffed with homemade sausage, on creamy polenta.
